Age of Conan PvP is very dynamic with many mechanics. All classes, different feats, AA´s and buffs/debuffs makes every PvP instance unique each and every battle. 

When it comes to PvP,,, the class abilities and game design will shine.

 

At start it can be frustrating to join a public PvP mini because you will be mixed with PvP veterans as the game is since long established  and the vet´s will adapt quickly to counter any attack you try. On the other hand also rewarding opportunities to really learn your class as you must adapt and make fast tactical changes or simply know when to run away.

We want to organize some friendly mini games to allow players to get the hang of PvP and get the so important tips.

 

What are the PvP instances?

There are 2 types of PvP instances, “Open World” and “Mini Games”.

Open Worlds are the maps you can see as borderland, active one week per month with PvP events, here you need to go with a group if you are new or it will be very hard.

The Mini Games are group based with different objectives in one of the 5 Mini Game maps. To join a public Mini Game you have to sign on via the players and PvP tab on the top left (original user interface) and click on the one you want to join.

 

Totem Torrent

6 versus 6 and the team with highest scored kills wins. Aim is to destroy the totem in the enemy base as that prevents resurrection. There are two quarters on the map that can be captured, if your team hold both your totem can´t be destroyed.

 

Lost Temple

6 versus 6 with aim to capture the flag. First reaching 3 captured flag wins automatically, otherwise the team with most captures wins when time runs out,,, or highest amount of kills vs death score if it’s a tie. Knock back into the molten lava stream is a quick kill...

 

Call of Jhebbal Sag

12 vs 12 with aim to control flags where each team starts with 1500 points. Your teams points ticks down over time with every captured flag by the enemy. You can also get blessings by running into the mini-totems that spawns, the totem can give you both positive and negative effects. A JS win gives very high amount of AA prowess exp and a divine Blessing of Jhebbal gives another boost to prowess.

 

Blood Ravine

6 versus 6, with aim to capture the flag. Same rules as for Lost Temple.

 

Hallowed Vaults

6 versus 6 with aim to capture the flag. Same rules as for Lost Temple.

 

 

Good Game: Be a good team mate to you and opponents in public minis. If one team clearly is winning and some starts killing the other players on the res pad, then go and capture the remaining flags.  

 

Class feat trees and AA´s

You have to change feat tree for PvP (no PvE build is going to work well). More Combat Control (CC) and anti CC +protection is needed. If you only try PvP in a friendly mini, sure possible to stay in PvE spec. But it is recommended to have protection gear and PvP feats in a public mini or it will be disaster for you. You can buy protection necklace, back etc in the armory already at PvP level 0.

There are plenty of tips in the AoC game forums how to PvP with each class. Most important is to find out what works for your play style. Some high dps PvE combos are pure crap in PvP as you for example don´t have time for a 3-step combo finisher (unless opponent is stunned, rooted or knocked back). Similar if you are attacked by, say an assassin, move move move to make it harder to hit you and have anti CC ready so you don´t become a standing statue.
