re: The Legacy continues - in ESO

Hello everybody,

As you may already heard, some of us are also playing another MMO game, which is the Elder Scrolls Online (ESO). This is not new as some did for a long time already.

It is not like we want you to stop playing AoC, we are just a bit sad observing how many of our old friends from this community already left AoC for other solo/multiplayer games.

As you surely noticed, the activity of (all) players in AoC is declining. We still try to keep up our regular raids (big thanks to Ellori) but for the rest of the week, the activity is close to zero as you noticed.

It is hard or actually impossible to revert this process, as AoC has no new update since many years and there is no new content or further support in sight. But as we really enjoy playing with you, we invite you to try this other game.

You may say, that nothing can really replace AOC and you will be right. ESO can’t really replace all why we love AoC, it’s just another MMO game.

We do not expect everyone will like ESO, we just want to inform you, that you can continue playing with us there if you want. Slacker style - no rules other than the non-aggression principle. No one is having a hard time when he has problems keeping up with the in-game progression of others.

To reach us, you will have to create the character on the EU server. There are two megaservers at the moment EU and NA. As one of the choices in the character creation, you will be asked what alliance you will be. This choice may be quite important when it comes to your starting-questing zones and alliance-based-PvP so if you want to stick with our alliance, then choose the Ebonheart pact (red). There is no “must be” rule for that but if you have no idea which alliance to choose, then you may want to choose this one to make things easier.

When you are in the game already, you may find our guild (Wrath of Akatosh) in the “Guilds” menu, but it may require a lot of scrolling so the good approach is to add @Hergerin or @Arandorias to your friend list (with a short notice you want a guild invite as well) and we will add you.

Feel free to slack and see the game for yourself and decide if you like it or not, or we may show you some group content as well if you will like to see it.

What this game can offer:

 - A very broad selection of skill lines for different classes. Unlike in AoC, you can make tank/healer/DPS from any class, and switch those builds so you are not sentenced to an only class role at the very beginning.

Example of character created. Sets and vanity options are really plenty by now.

- A huge game world that is still regularly updated with new chapters/DLC

- Numerous dungeons (4 ppl) which you may do in the normal/veteran/hard mode version.

- Different raids (trials) for 12 ppl which can give you some of the best gear sets in the game (again in different difficulty setups).

- Solo dungeons and arenas where you depend only on your own skills, again in different difficulty tiers.

- Robust PVP system that includes different types of minigames, dueling and open-world PVP war (3 alliances war settings) where you can also PvP as a tank, healer, or have fun with siege engines.

Screenshot from ongoing siege to storm a keep. The openworld pvp run 24/7 with front lines going fast back and forth.

Also, to comment on some rumours about ESO that were mentioned before:

“ESO game is too easy, like for kids.”

ESO was always meant for a huge population of players, including different MMOs veterans and total rookies alike. Therefore the basic questing/overland content/core game normal dungeons are easy. The start level design is to offer anyone adventure questlines with cinematics to enjoy.

There are instances that are hard and there are instances that are super hard, both for group and solo content. If you have the skill, you can play those, if you want to slack in easy content, you can - your choice.

Cloudrest trial (middle difficulty, similar to T5 Vizzy with port groups, adds and AoE)

“ESO combat system is too simple”

AoC surely has one of the best combat systems ever made in MMOs, so if you take that as a baseline, you may see other games as too simple. Well, first of all, the great combat system sadly did not save AoC from declining and second, the combat system in ESO is very complex as well, just first feeling is always that it’s simple. It is not complicated for new players, so they can easily adapt it and use a different variety of kills they choose for their build. Later you will find out that it is actually the correct timing of several skills, skill rotation and usage of the basic attacks which makes the important performance difference. The same build can be fair in the hands of a new player, but an experienced veteran can do like 2-3x more DPS with the same build, as he now understands the importance of correct timing and correct rotation. What works well in normal dungeons, will not work that easily in harder dungeons.

“There is so much of it that new players are totally confused”

Well, ESO is a living game with regular additions of new content, so the number of dungeons/gear sets/activities, etc. in the game is still increasing. That is not a bad thing on its own, as it keeps the game community occupied but of course, it means it may be hard to get through all of it for the new players. As was mentioned above – the game is extremely friendly for new players which means, that you are free to ignore any content you are not interested in as there are no one-way choices and you can start some activities (like crafting/housing/trading/PVP/others…) later when you will have time for it or skip through it. Your choice again!

If want to check for yourself, we will be happy to guide you.

It's worth a shot - not only but also because we can keep many really good friendships online.

Yours truely,

Hello everybody,

some of you had a similar question – whether there is a class like pom/DT/necro/any other in ESO.

ESO has a much more versatile system of character development which means you are not choosing a strong archetype (tank/heal/DPS) by picking up a class, but basically, any class can be played as tank, healer or dps. As this concept may a bit confusing to people who would like to give it a try, but want to start with a similar class (archetype) which they liked in AOC, I will give you a rough AOC-ESO conversion table image

Healers:

POM = Templar (Magicka build, full heal or heal/DPS), a lot of white magic effects to enjoy

TOS = Sorcerer (Magicka build, heal/DPS), yes, lightings included

BS = Warden (Magicka or stamina build, both can heal/DPS, depends on what you prefer), you will get a real bear pet this time

Rogues:

Ranger = Nightblade (stamina build with bow), sniping and stealth

Sin = Nightblade (magicka or stamina build, dual wield or whatever you will like), glass canon with invisibility

Barb = Warden (stamina build) but strong melee dps with 2H/dual wield can be created nearly from any class, but Warden is wilderness oriented archetype if

Mages:

HOX = Dragonkngiht (magicka build) – melee fights and fire everywhere (yes, you can breathe fire)

Necro = Necromancer (magicka build) – obvious choice, though the summoning works differently compared to AOC

Demo = Sorcerer (magicka build, full dps) – you can summon 1 or 2 pets to dmg your enemies

Tanks:

Conq = Dragonknight (tank/dps build), you can have a fire banner

Guard = Dragonknight (full tank build), but Wardens and Templars can be also excellent full turtle tanks

DT = Nightblade (tank/leeching dps build), you can play life leech tank even in ESO if you liked it in AOC.

Conclusion:

Class choice is actually the only choice you make in ESO that cannot be changed later. Your character development is based on your choice of spending attributes (magicka/stamina/health) points and skill points (for weapon/class/other abilities) – but this can be changed anytime in the game. You can also change your race/visual appearance (for a token you buy with real money) and for some time you can even buy a token to change your alliance too (most of us are in Ebonheart pact, but until you plan to pvp a lot, the alliance choice is not a big deal atm).

If you have any other questions I will be happy to answer them.
